She joins the firm on January 1, 2020 and is currently based in the firm’s Shanghai Office.
Feng heads the firm’s Japanese Practice. Her primary responsibility is to cater to the Japanese clients’ intellectual property needs in China, encompassing the spectrum of patent filing, reexamination, invalidity, administrative litigation as well as patent infringement litigation.
In 1999, Feng received international law training at The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), which familarises herself with the intellectual property laws of Japan. She passed China’s national qualifying test for trademark attorneys in 2000 and that for patent attorneys in 2002. Her legal expertise in both jurisdictions and proficiency in Japanese language put her in an advantageous position to represent the firm’s Japanese clients in China and vice versa.
Feng has abundant experience in prosecuting, enforcing and litigating inbound and outbound patent cases. She is particularly known for her invaluable experience in helping Japanese magnates navigate through high-profile patent cases like patent invalidity analysis, patent invalidation, patent administrative & civil litigation, as well as orchestrating and executing coordinated enforcement actions at exhibitions and fairs. Her spectrum of practice also extends to trademark opposition and invalidation proceedings.
Over the past 20 years, Feng has developed a niche in assisting the Chinese corporations’ “going abroad” initiatives and in facilitating the Japanese corporations’ “entry into the Chinese market”. She advises clients on integrated solutions for intellectual property prosecution and enforcement strategy on a frequent basis.
Feng is a sought-after speaker at various Sino-Japan intellectual property seminars and symposiums targeting both corporations and IP agencies. She publishes a dozen treatises in some prestigious IP magazines in Japan.
