Personal description


Ms. He Shanmei is a Partner and a Trademark Attorney at Wanhuida Intellectual Property, where she has started practice since April 2020.


Ms. He is the Associate Director of the firm’s Japan Practice, tasked to catering to the intellectual property needs of Japanese corporations in China. Ms. He’s practice primarily concentrates on trademark prosecution and contentious matters, patent mining, patent prosecution, building of trademark and patent portfolio, as well as planning and formulating trademark filing and enforcement strategies. She also advises clients on contractual matters pertaining to import and export of technology, official recognition of hi-tech enterprise status in China, among others.


Ms. He has abundant experience in practicing intellectual property law in China. She used to clerk for three years in the Beijing High Court, working in the tribunal that specifically handles disputes over economic and intellectual property matters. She later pursued her master’s degree in civil law in Nihon University and joined private sector after her graduation.


Since 1999, Ms. He has gradually shifted her practice to intellectual property law. She served over ten years in a Japanese conglomerate in the capacity of IPR Director, overseeing the magnate’s intellectual property rights portfolio, executing administrative and judicial enforcement programs, formulating intellectual property management regime, conducting risk control, as well as corroborating with external resources to file and manage outbound patent applications of the technological innovations in China.


Ms. He is a sought-after speaker at various seminars and symposiums hosted by Japanese IP communities. She is keen in promoting Sino-Japan communication in the intellectual property field.
