Wanhuida Partners speak at JETRO Virtual Conference
On 9 July 2020, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) held a virtual conference entitled “Intellectual Property Protection Alliance of Japanese Corporations in China”. The virtual conference features “Impact brought by Sino-US Economic and Trade Agreement on China’s IPR Landscape”.

Dr.
Li’s presentation laser focuses on the trade secret and pharmaceutical patent
linkage aspect of the Sino-US Economic and Trade Agreement (the “Agreement”),
the latest legislative endeavors of the Chinese government in aligning its IPR
legislation with the Agreement.

Huang Hui
Dr.
Huang speaks on enforcement of trademark rights and matters of technological
transfer, with his presentation covering legislative updates on a spectrum of
issues including e-commerce and online infringement, bad faith trademark
filing/registration, enforcement of geographical indications, evidentiary
requirement and technological transfer, as well as their impact on
foreign-invested corporations.
In
the Q&A session, Dr. Li and Dr. Huang shared with the attendees the latest
legislative update on the destruction of infringing products and case law on opposition
and invalidation against bad faith trademark filings/registrations.
He
Shanmei, Associate Director of the firm’s Japan Practice also attends the
conference.
The
virtual conference attracts about 200 attendees including officials of the
Japan Patent Office (JPO), JETRO and in-house counsels of over 100 Japanese
corporations.
