In the 2023 edition of the World Trademark Review 1000 - The World's Leading Trademark Professionals, which is released on 7th February 2023, Wanhuida Intellectual Property has dominated the trademark market for yet another year. The firm is rated in the Gold Band as a top PRC firm for both "Prosecution and Strategy" and "Enforcement and Litigation" category.

Wanhuida is being hailed by the WTR 1000 2023 a Chinese IP titan, which is “equally adept at portfolio management as in any contentious scenario”. With “pushing the boundary of Chinese IP law in the outfit’s DNA”, the firm’s trademark department “has set one precedent after another in the realm of trademark application and infringement lawsuits”. Plaudits come in thick and fast for the IP powerhouse: “I have worked with several Chinese firms and Wanhuida is by and far the best.” “The group’s unparalleled creativity, critical thinking and knowledge of the law delivers the best and most comprehensive strategies for clients, almost without failures.”

Lauded as a “rainmaker” of the firm, Founding Partner and Management Committee Chair Bai Gang is ranked by WTR as a recommended individual in “Enforcement and Litigation” for being “a fierce representative in trademark infringement and anti-counterfeiting disputes”. Partner and Management Committee Member Dr. Huang Hui also receives individual honor from WTR in the same field for his forte in “high-stake IP litigation” and “a razor-sharp understanding of the theory and practice of the whole trademark cycle”. Other recommended individuals within the firm include two other partners and Management Committee Members Haiyan Ren (Prosecution and Strategy) and Jason Yao (Enforcement and Litigation), as well Partner Yunquan Li (Prosecution and Strategy). Haiyan Ren’s extraordinary competence and level of expertise is attested by clients as being “very capable” and the clients “have never had a reason not to trust in her advice and judgment”. WTR editorial names Jason as “a name frequently relied upon when it comes to high-stakes brand disputes” and commends Yunquan Li for “bringing a wealth of legal and industry knowledge to the table”. Yunquan is commended by his clients as “a dream to work with” because “It is always easy to follow his reasoning and arguments; he is more than willing to take his time to understand the risks and challenges of each business, and how IP could protect their interests.”

This year’s publication features more than 80 country and US state-specific chapters analysing local trademark legal services markets and profiling the firms and individuals singled out as leaders in their respective fields. Individual practitioners, law firms and trademark attorney practices qualify for inclusion in the WTR 1000 solely on receiving sufficient positive feedback from market sources. The extensive research process was conducted over a four-month period by a team of full-time analysts and involved over 1,700 telephone interviews with trademark specialists across the globe. The results are presented in bands – gold, silver and bronze – to reflect the depth of expertise, market presence and level of work on which firms are typically instructed.
