Wanhuida Partner speaks at CTF Internet Forum

On 17th June 2023, the “Trademark & Brand Enforcement Forum under the Internet Context”, which is hosted by the China Trademark Association (CTA) and organized by the CTA Internet Trademark and Brand Professional Committee, is held in Dongguan.


Ma Fu, CTA President delivers welcome remarks at the forum. The event features two sessions: “Systematic Governance of Bad Faith Trademark Registration” and “Application of New Technology & Trademark Brand Protection”.


The first session is moderated by Dr. Wang Ze, Co-executive director of CTA Internet Trademark and Brand Professional Committee. Yao Yong, Deputy Director, Examination Section 1, Trademark Office, China National Intellectual Property Administration speaks on “Examination Policy & Practice on Bad Faith Trademark Registration”. Wang Juan, General Counsel, IP, Tencent and Zhu Fengchun, Trademark & Brand Management Director, Douyin, share their experience in trademark management and in fighting bad faith trademark registration from the perspective of Internet companies. Feng Shujie, Associate Professor, School of Law, Tsinghua University shares insights on “Reining in Trademark Preemptive Registration – A systematic Project”. The session is concluded with the takeaways offered by Zhang Han, Partner of Wanhuida Intellectual Property in preventing bad faith trademark filing at an early stage, viable options in countering the bad faith registration and countermeasures in addressing mala fide enforcement actions.

The second session features speakers like Professor Zhang Weijun, Zhejiang University Guanghua Law School, Yue Lihao, Senior Judge, IP Tribunal, Guangdong High Court, Du Jianbo, Senior Manager, Legal Department, Baidu as well as Xiong Dingyi, Senior Legal Manager, Migu. The session is moderated by Jin Gaoping, Director of Legal Department, Alibaba Group. The speakers address in their presentation a slew of hot-button issues including “Offering to Sale in the Context of Live Streaming”, “Internet Trademark Infringement”, “Trademark Infringement Defence in the Context of Application of AI Technology”, as well as “Challenge and Opportunities of Trademark Enforcement in Metaverse”.
