From November 17 to 18, 2016, under the auspices of the Shanghai People’s Government and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the “International Conference on Building Respect for Intellectual Property” (the Conference), which is organised by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), is held in Shanghai. WAN HUI DA co-organizes the Conference.

On November 17, Mr. Yang Xiong, Mayor of Shanghai City, Mr. Shen Changyu, SIPO Commissioner as well as Ms. Wang Binying, Deputy Director General, Brands and Designs Sector, WIPO deliver welcome remarks at the opening ceremony. Mr. Rui Wenbiao, WIPO Senior Representative and Deputy Director General of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, delivers keynote speech titled “Realizing the Commitment of Promoting Innovation, Development and Growth via Intellectual Property Rights”.

On November 18, Ms. Helen Mosback, Legal and Policy Affairs Officer, Unit F5 Intellectual Property and Fight against Counterfeiting, Directorate-General Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, European Commission and Justice Colin Birss, High Court of England and Wales, United Kingdom address the Conference on the “Intellectual Property Protection and Trial in the Evolving Context”.

The Conference attracts about 300 attendees including representatives from WIPO and IP-related governmental agencies both at home and abroad, as well as in-house counsels and IP practitioners.
