Wanhuida Of Counsel Speaks at IP Key Event in Beijing

On Wednesday 29 May, 2019, the one-day workshop “Exchange in China on Trademark Law”, which is jointly organised by IP Key China, in cooperation with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) is held in Beijing.

The workshop is unveiled by the opening remarks of Ruben Schellingerhout, Counsellor for Intellectual Property Rights, European Union Delegation to China, Trade Section and Dong Cheng, Deputy Director General of International Cooperation Department, CNIPA.

The morning session featuring “The Legislative Framework concerning Trademarks (Part 1)” is moderated by Paul Ranjard, European Chamber IPR Working Group and Of Counsel, Wanhuida Intellectual Property. Expert speakers of the session include Gunther Martin, Minister Counsellor/EUIPO IP Attaché, Trade Section, Delegation of the European Union to China and Hu Anqi, Deputy Director of Division II, Legal and Treaty Department, CNIPA. Mr. Martin speaks on “The developments of relevant law or regulation within the framework of EUTM system, including the 2015 European Union Trademark Regulation”. Ms. Hu speaks on “The Amendment of the Trademark Law”.

The afternoon session featuring “Best practices/forthcoming changes in preventing and handling bad-faith trademark registrations (part 1)” is moderated by Hu An, Deputy Director of Division III, International Cooperation Department, CNIPA. Mr. Ranjard speaks on the “Reflection on the Certain Provisions for Regulating Applications for Trade Mark Registration”.

Other distinguished speakers include Fan Yali, Director of Examination Management Division I, Trademark Office, CNIPA, Federico Antonelli, Legal Attaché, Embassy of Italy, among others.

The workshop is closed by the closing remarks of Gunther Marten and Dong Cheng.

Dedicated to the discussion on the latest changes in the law, this workshop aims to outline its practical implications and address some of the on-going challenges.
