Wanhuida Partner speaks at INTA - BIPC Policy Dialogue

On Friday 13th May 2022, the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Beijing Intellectual Property Court (BIPC) convene a high-impact virtual bilateral policy dialogue. This is the first bilateral dialogue INTA has ever held with a local court in China since its creation. Wanhuida Intellectual Property Partners Zhu Zhigang and Yang Mingming attend the event.

 

The dialogue features heavy-weight speakers including Zeeger Vink, INTA President, Iris Gunther, INTA Director of External Relations – Enforcement, Seth Hays, INTA Chief Representative, Asia Pacific, Monica Su, INTA Senior Representative Officer, China Office, BIPC President Jin Xuejun, Vice President Song Yushui, Presiding Judge Zhang Xiaoxia as well as Judges Zhou Liting, Fan Miduo and Li Hui.

 

INTA speakers prepare the floor on the board resolution regarding “Recommended Procedures to Address Bad Faith Trademark Applications and Registrations” and INTA’s global survey on the coexistence agreement and survey results. The two sides exchange ideas over a broad range of issues including inter alia the judicial countermeasures against preemptive trademark registration, some formality issues concerning docketing of administrative proceedings as well as pre-suit mediation procedure.

 

The firm’s Partner Zhu Zhigang, in his capacity of INTA Enforcement Committee China Task Force Lead, serves as the moderator of the second half of the dialogue. Zhigang also shares insights re the application and interpretation of Article 4 of Trademark Law in fighting bad faith trademark filings, among other subjects.
