WAN HUI DA Assists in Various INTA Events
During the 2017 Barcelona INTA annual meeting, WAN HUI DA assists in various INTA events attended by delegates from the China Trademark Office (CTMO), the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board (TRAB) as well as the Trademark Examination Cooperation Center (TECC) of the SAIC.
From 1:15 pm to 3:15 pm, Monday, May 22, the firm's Senior Trademark
Counsel Huang Mei attends the meeting of the Trademark Office Practices
Committee (TOPC) - China Trademark Office Subcommittee in the capacity of
interpreter. TRAB Deputy Director Li Zhijun and TECC Deputy Director Cao
Hongying update the attendees on the latest developments of the trademark
registration and examination practice in China.
From 1:45 pm to 3:00 pm, Tuesday, May 23, the firm's Partner Lei
Yongjian serves as an interpreter at the Closed Door Session on "Trademark
Use: A Closer Look at Bad Faith Registrations and Zombie Marks". The
Session, which is part of the "Working Towards the 21st Century IP Office
Workshop", features discussions on strategies and mechanisms to deal with
zombie marks and bad faith registrations and offering different perspectives on
trademark use. Ouyang Shaohua, CTMO Deputy Counsel and Zhang Sijing, Chief of
the CTMO International Registration Section speak at the session.
From 10:15 am to 11:30 am, Wednesday, May 24, the firm's Senior
Trademark Counsel Li Yunquan attends the panel of "CW01 Contracts with
Vertical Restrictions: Trademarks and Selective Distribution Agreements—Protecting Distribution Networks Around the World with
Trademarks" in the capacity of interpreter. The panel features discussions
on "How trademark owners use trademarks to protect their distribution
network", "Enforcing trademark rights beyond exhaustion",
"Value of trademark rights once the product is already in the market"
and "Defending your distribution strategies in the face of anticompetition
issues". TECC Deputy Director Cao Hongying speaks at the panel.
The firm's Senior Trademark Lu Tangchao serves as an interpreter at
a parallel panel "CW02 The Future of Trademark Protection in a World of
Mega-Regional Agreements". This panel assembles a unique constellation of
expert international trade negotiators and policy-makers, who share their
insights on mega-regional agreements and international trade agreements in
general and the importance of these agreements for brand owners and trademark
practitioners. TRAB Deputy Director Li Zhijun speaks at the panel.
