Wanhuida Partner speaks at Berkeley virtual event

On Thursday May 6th, 2021 (Pacific time), the “Quantum Leap: Developments in China IP Law Over the Past Two Years”, which is organized by Berkeley Center for Law & Technology (BCLT), is held virtually. The event focuses on how China’s IP regime has changed during the two-year period of intensive reform and how those changes are impacting the foreign business community.

 

The event features brief summaries of major developments in IP laws in China, followed by discussions around common themes and anticipated future developments in the areas including “Patents”, “Trademarks”, “Copyright”, “Trade Secrets”, “Antitrust/SEPs”, “Pharma Developments”, “Litigation/developments in the Courts/Agencies”, among others.

 

Lei Yongjian, Partner of Wanhuida Intellectual Property shares with attendees his insights on an array of topics, including inter alia, the latest trend in trademark prosecution and contentious practice, the conducive attempt of brand owners in claiming indemnities from bad-faith trademark filers, the Supreme People’s Court’s recent judicial interpretation on punitive damages, as well as an exemplary case decided by the Zhejiang High Court.

 

Fellow speakers include Prof. Liu Jiarui, Fellow, Center for Internet and Society, Stanford Law School, Prof. Cui Guobin, School of Law, Tsinghua University, Paul Coletti, Associate Patent Counsel, Johnson & Johnson, Duncan Willson, IP Counselor, US Embassy-Beijing, among others. The session is moderated by Mark Cohen, Senior Fellow and Director and Dr. Yuan Hao, Senior Fellow of BCLT Asia IP Project at the University of California, Berkeley.

 

The event, which is part of the Berkeley Asia IP & Technology Law Project, attracts over 200 attendees including in-house counsels, academicians, judges, attorneys-at-law, as well as law school students from both China and the United States.
