On 9^th June 2023, the “Symposium on the Draft Fifth Amendment to the Trademark Law”, which is organized by the School of Law, Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU), is convened at BTBU campus.

The Symposium is moderated by Professor Liu Yunyun of BTBU School of Law. Dr. Huang Hui, Partner and Management Committee member of Wanhuida Intellectual Property shares insights on “Use, Bad faith and Well-known Trademarks in the Context of the Fifth Amendment to the Trademark Law”. Analysing the draft articles relating to the obligation to use registered trademarks, prohibition of registration and use of bad faith trademarks as well as protection of well-known trademarks, Dr. Huang shares the best practice in the United States and the EU and proposes some tentative changes to the draft amendment.

Fellow speakers at the Symposium include Professor Guo He, Associate Dean, Intellectual Property Academy of Renmin University of China, Shi Jiaxu, Judge Assistant (on secondment), Beijing Intellectual Property Court, among others.

Prior to the Symposium, the BTBU School of Law held a ceremony commending the donation made by Wanhuida to the “BTBU - Wanhuida” IP Talent Cultivation Special Grant. The ceremony is officiated by Chen Dun, Associate Dean, BTBU School of Law.
